In a year full of adversity and challenge an amazing line up of finalists for The Best Business Women Awards have been announced for 2020. This is cause for celebration as most businesses have faced their most turbulent year yet.

The finalists selected this year demonstrate how many talented and dedicated female entrepreneurs we have in UK. Many of whom a juggle their business around the needs of their families. The Best Business Women Awards are designed to recognise the achievement of those women across a wide range industries.

Milda Rowlinson, Head of Creative at Focus7, a brand-led business growth agency in Hertfordshire, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Best Boss category. This was the only category in 2020 where candidates were required to be nominated by their team, as opposed to entering themselves.

Debbie Gilbert, organiser of The Best Business Women Awards said “This is the 6 th year of these prestigious awards. Given the situation with Covid 19 we were delighted with the number of entries. This showed us how determined our entrants were! The entries came in from across the UK and was judged by a panel of business experts. To be a finalist is a major achievement. The businesswomen selected have been chosen for their business acumen, determination, creativity and tenacity. All our finalists are all shining examples of being successful entrepreneurs who have proved their success to our judges.”

Milda has said of her selection as a finalist: “As someone who has started as a designer many years ago, been in the midst of busy teams, agencies and projects, I do understand the stresses that my team is under. In my practise as a manager I not only apply my own experiences, but also theoretical studies from academic sources in Creative Leadership, in how to successfully manage the ‘eccentric’ and ‘unmanageable’ creatives. Support them, coach them, earn their trust and see them flourish is a true reward and what makes me love my job.

The news of me being a finalist shocked me. I’m very much down to earth, a doer, and take pride in my creative team. Awards don’t happen to people like me, do they..? But this time it did! A ‘win’ for me is being regarded as a ‘good manager’ by my team; it’s very humbling to know that I did something right. Being announced as a finalist is a cherry on a pudding.”

Plans for the Gala final, usually held in October, have been changed to April 2021. If an in person event cannot be safely delivered the event will be held online when the winners will be announced.
